Navigators and Kids In Crisis
The Navigators Group continues its partnership with Kids In Crisis as its title sponsor of the Navigators Stamford KIC IT Race Weekend. The Navigators Group, an international specialty insurance holding company, has its corporate headquarters in Stamford, just a few blocks from the races' finish line. We are deeply grateful to Navigators for their tradition of supporting Kids In Crisis.
More than 800 athletes from throughout the tri-state area will be joined by thousands of spectators and individual and corporate volunteers when the annual Navigators Stamford KIC IT Kids Triathlon, annual Navigators Stamford KIC IT Olympic Triathlon, annual Navigators Stamford KIC IT Sprint Triathlon and fourth annual Navigators Stamford KIC IT 5k take place Saturday and Sunday, June 23-24, 2018. This race weekend raises money for children struggling with abuse and neglect by supporting Kids In Crisis, Connecticut’s only free, round-the-clock agency providing emergency shelter, community educational programs for children of all ages, and immediate help and support for children dealing with a wide range of crises.
The much-loved Kids Triathlon takes place on Saturday, June 23 at Cummings Beach in Stamford. Open to children ages 6-15, the Kids Triathlon features courses and distances achievable for all athletes. The Navigators Stamford KIC IT 5K run returns this year on Saturday. The day is a fantastic family event promoting wellness and fun!
On Sunday, June 24, the Olympic Race begins with a 1.5k (.9 mile) swim in Long Island Sound, segues into a 40k (24.8 mile) bike ride from the shore, through the heart of the downtown business district, and finishes with a 10k (6.2 mile) run through picturesque part of the city.
The Sprint Race is comprised of a 0.8k (0.5 mile) swim, 25k (15.6 mile) bike, and 5K (3.1 mile) run, contested on shortened sections of the Olympic course. It is the perfect race for the beginner triathlete, or seasoned racer looking for a speedy time!
The Navigators Stamford KIC IT 5K run returns this year. It runs as a standalone road race with its very own start time.
All Sunday events end at Cummings Beach, where spectators and athletes enjoy a lively festival complete with music, refreshments, awards and entertainment.
